Forest School

All pupils at Southbrook participate in weekly Forest School sessions. Our Forest School curriculum has two purposes: to develop practical skills learned in a stimulating outdoor environment and to help our pupils build vital skills such as teamwork, co-operation, resilience, and independence whilst learning alongside their peers.

Southbrook has a bespoke Forest School area which offers a safe and separate environment for our pupils, some of whom may find the classroom setting quite restrictive and therefore benefit from the variety of opportunities available in the outdoor area. For pupils who may have mobility issues, we ensure that all pupils can access the learning and experiences and adapt the delivery to suit all.

We also have a well-developed and maintained horticultural area that is used as a supplementary outdoor learning space. This area is maintained and thrives through the efforts of the KS4 pupils who study Horticulture and Garden Maintenance as part of their vocational option choices.
