At Southbrook we very much believe in meeting the individual needs of all pupils and liaising closely with parents, carers and other agencies to ensure success. We work together to bring self-belief to pupils and relief and optimism to their parents.
The Inclusion Team at Southbrook is led by Donna Parsons (Deputy Headteacher) and made up of Mike Thwaite (Pastoral Support Coordinator), Bella Lewis (Pastoral Care Worker), Sam Thatcher (Inclusion Teacher), Jane Vowles (SENCo), Steve Goss (PE Co-ordinator/ Physio) and Catherine Courtier (Occupational Therapist). We meet fortnightly to discuss interventions, therapies and individual programmes.
With such a diverse range of needs, our work takes on many different and varied shapes and forms but at the heart lies the inclusive ethos that every pupil matters.
For individuals and small groups of pupils, our work mainly falls into the following categories:
• Emotional wellbeing and Mental Health
• Physical wellbeing
• Pastoral Care
• Developing social and communication skills
• Working with outside agencies
We also take care of whole school procedures like:
• Annual Reviews
• Transition into Year 7
Developing good practice and identifying training needs is another important aspect of our work and we are constantly improving the work we do with your children.
The documents below will provide you with a brief outline of some of the very wide range of therapies and additional support we offer at Southbrook.
