St Thomas Mosaic

15th January 2016

Over the last two weeks we have been working with St Thomas’s Primary School and the Devon and Cornwall Railway Partnership on an art project designing and making a mural to help with the regeneration of St Thomas’s Station in Exeter. The project has involved 12 Year 9 pupils and 26 Year 6 pupils and has involved lots of work creating a ‘minibeast’ mosaic which will be put on the station on the new wildlife area consisting of sedum bedding and bug hotels. We were joined last week by an artist called Monica Shanta Brown who specialises in mosaics and helped show our pupils and those from St Thomas’s school how to create a mosaic and turn their ideas into reality. This was a really fantastic opportunity for our pupils to show off their artistic talent and a chance to help rejuvenate one of Exeter’s oldest stations.
