  • In Year 11 pupils will take part in a Vocational Block which will include work/volunteering placements and Outdoor Education. Some individual tailoring of this option will take place for pupils for whom this programme is not suitable in terms of need.
  • There is an option for all pupils in Key Stage 4 to take part in the Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge and also school residential activities.

How will the transition to Key Stage 5 be managed?

  • Pupils, through the annual review process, will be guided on a transition path which included college visits, college talks and presentations and the close involvement of Careers South West.
  • All pupils and their families are encouraged to attend our annual transition event whereby all local colleges and service providers attend and they are invited to all college open days.
  • Each college provides a specific programme of transition and open days which our pupils attend and where appropriate additional visits are provided.

Our aim at Southbrook School is to prepare each pupil for life and equip them ready to enter college, employment or training at Post 16. We believe that the curriculum allows each pupil to develop their self-esteem and resilience as well as academic ability.

Each year we change things depending on the pupils in that year group and the offer at Key Stage 4 is flexible. For example, some pupils complete extra work/vocational experience whilst others work 1:2:1 with outside agencies.
