6th July 2017
Please find attached to the letter your child brings home a list of the books he/she currently has on loan from our school library. The deadline for pupils to return all their library books is Thursday 13th July. We do understand that sometimes items are damaged or go missing. If you are unable to locate the books on the list or they are damaged, we ask for a contribution towards covering the cost of a replacement resource. We would be very grateful if you could pay the full price for a new book or a donation towards it. If you are unsure whether you have a school library book or not, please look inside the front cover where there will be a barcode and maybe a ‘Southbrook School’ stamp.
Also please find attached to the letter information about the upcoming Summer Reading Challenge. This is run each year in local libraries throughout the country. This year’s theme is Animal Agents by illustrator Tony Ross, who is famous for drawing Horrid Henry and the David Walliams books, to name a few. All your child needs to do is sign up at their local library, where they will receive a goody pack. To complete the challenge they must read 6 books during the summer holidays and for their hard work they will receive a certificate and/or a medal! It is free to take part and it would be great to know if they complete it. If you have any questions please contact Sophie.
