6th October 2016

On Monday 3rd October, Sophie Chalmers, four pupils and Mr Tilley travelled up to London to celebrate the School Librarian of the Year for which Sophie had been shortlisted and was in the final five in the country.

We travelled up early, catching the 7.22am train and made the most of our day in the capital. On the way to the ceremony, we walked along the South Bank, visited the Tate Modern and took great delight in launching some giant inflatable fish! The celebrations took place at Brown's in Covent Garden where we had a very delightful afternoon tea and then waited to see all the presentations from the five nominated school librarians. Sadly, Sophie didn't win but she was highly commended, narrowly missing the top spot by half a point from the judges and received huge praise.

After the presentations and photos, we headed off to the Rainforest Café for a bite to eat before braving the busy tube and returning to Exeter. The four pupils who came along - Jordan, Levi, Sophie and Tin - were amazing and a real credit to the school.

Well done to Sophie Chalmers - you were a true star and you deserve all of the judges' praise.
