READING FOLDERS

24th November 2016

Dear Parent/Carer

As part of our whole school approach to improve reading levels and reading for pleasure every pupil has been given a reading folder. They are intended to be bookbags, and just to be used to carry library books and reading challenge record cards. We have provided these folders to help your son/daughter look after their books and stop them getting damaged. Folders can be replaced if necessary for £1.20.

We have also enclosed either a copy of the Southbrook Reading Challenge Reading Record or the Southbrook Reading Wall Record depending on which scheme your son/daughter is using. Please can you note down the reading your child does at home as this helps towards their reading target. The aim of this A5 booklet is to help you document your child’s reading at home, therefore hopefully making communication between teaching staff and parents/carers easier. Reading documented on the card will help us support them with their reading progress and help them achieve either the Southbrook Reading Challenge or the Southbrook Reading Wall.

If you have any questions or queries regarding any of the above please do not hesitate to contact either Grace Shabytah (Head of English) or myself (School Librarian).

Yours sincerely,

Sophie Chalmers
